Hey Dolls! I am always on the search for new products and I was excited when I stumbled across NYX Wonder Stick! I have read a lot of reviews and I have heard great things about it! So I thought I would try it and give you all my thoughts! I am a contour lover and am mildly obsessed to say the least. Contouring is honestly easy for anyone to do and brings definition to any face shape for a gorgeous look! For this Contour & Highlight Guide, I used the color Deep Profound. Make sure before you buy any product for your face, you test on your skin to match the color. You can visit Ulta and they have samples available to test. Ladies don’t be afraid of the dark shade! It looks aggressive at first but once you blend into your skin, you will no longer be alarmed but amazed! Also, please research the shape of your face as you will want to contour according to what areas need definition. Please keep in mind, this is a general guide of contouring and depending on your shape, you may need less or more!
Step 1- Contour
Before starting your Contour & Highlight make sure you have already applied a foundation or BB Cream as a base. Apply the deep shade to the areas of the face you want to contour. Draw a line from the top of your ear by the hair-line, down towards the end of your cheek bone. To slim the nose, apply on each side of the bridge of your nose, drawing the line to right below your eyebrows and down around the tip of your nose as well. Draw right below hair-line on your forehead and your temples. Lastly apply along jawline on both sides of the face.
Step 2- Highlight
Now apply the light shade to the middle of your eyebrows toward middle of forehead and also down the bride of your nose and also to the tip. Next apply the light shade under the eyes in a triangle shape drawing up towards the tip of your ears. To accentuate your lip shape, you can apply on your cupids bow. Apply to the middle of the chin also. The purpose is to highlight the areas of the face that the light hits.
Step 3- Blend
Using a damp beauty blender sponge, blend into your skin. As you can see in the photo above, I use my sponge every day which is why it has product on it! The sponge can be washed and re-used which is nice! I started with the dark shade and made sure to blend evenly. I noticed it blended very nicely into my skin and I was stoked the color was perfect! I then blended the light shade, lightly dabbing with the sponge. Dang! It looked amazing!
Step 4- Finish
I set my face with MAC Prep-Prime Translucent Finishing Powder using a large face brush to prevent creasing under my eyes and to get rid of any shine. I usually have oily skin and I like to always set my makeup so it lasts all day and keeps shine at bay! I then applied Smashbox Bronzer along the areas I contoured for a nice glow. I finished with NARS Blush in Luster which is a peachy shimmery shade on the apples of my cheeks.
There you have it! I have to say I LOVED this product by NYX. They always amaze me with the quality of their products and this was no exception. Whether you are makeup savvy or makeup challenged, this was so easy to use and I was amazed at how nice it blended into my skin. You could take this on the go as it easily fits into your purse instead of the usual Contour/Highlight palettes on the market. I give this two thumbs up! You can purchase this at Ulta for $11.99 and they have test samples to pick the right shade.
