Please keep reading below for my favorites!
Meg B Beauty – Traveling Essentials for Summer
1. BB Cream with SPF
This is one of the most important things in my bag. When traveling a girl needs to keep her face moisturized and protected from the harsh sun rays. I personally don’t like to apply a heavy foundation when I’m in the sun or on the water. When I am hitting the water or boating with friends a BB Cream is perfect. I’ve been using Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue-Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream $29. This stuff is the perfect remedy for protecting your face as it contains 30 SPF. It also hydrates the skin and leaves a gorgeous glow. Apply with your finger tips or makeup Brush.
2. Moisturizing Lip Balm with SPF
Let’s not forget the smackers!! I hate dry chapped lips so I find myself religiously using a lip balm of some sort. I always carry a Lip Balm with SPF in my bag along with my lip glosses. It’s so important to protect your lips too because they can easily dry out just like your skin. I currently use Nivea Moisturizing Lip Balm with SPF 15- $2.99.
3. Ray Bans
I never go anywhere without these bad boys. My Aviator Ray Bans are like a second child to me. I love the dainty design and gold finish. There are so many fun styles and colors to choose from. They are a perfect fit for most face shapes, not to mention they match almost any outfit. They are a little pricey but consider it as a wise investment for your eyes.
So this is pretty much a lifesaver for any situation and I make sure I always have them. One too many Mojitos and you are fighting the headache from hell. Always keep a small travel container with some of these to prevent those horrid hangovers from all the fruity drinks you’ve been sipping.
When I’m laying at the beach and my daughter is playing in the water, I love to catch up on a good book. I am a huge fan of self improvement and motivational books so my current read is #GIRLBOSS. It is about Vintage Clothing – Nasty Gal Founder Sophia Amoruso’s journey to her success. A must read! Picture this: sitting in a beach chair, Bob Marley playing in the background, slight breeze, good book and the sunshine. That is a hell of a traveling moment if I do say so myself.
Who doesn’t like fresh breath!? Gum is a necessity for me so I always carry Orbit. I like to pop in my mouth when I need a breath pick me up. You will be thankful to have this after you downed those garlic fries on your travels. Rule of the day: carry gum all the time. Traveling or not!
7. Water Bottle
Stay Hydrated!!! This is so vital! I make sure to carry my own personal water bottle with me. That way I can always refill and it’s easy to carry with me. Find a cute and bright color so that it’s almost like an accessory with you on your travels. I got mine from my sis but TJ Maxx always has cute ones at a good price.
8. Hair Ties
I never leave the house without these! I like Goodies Ouchless Hair-ties $3.99. They are a must for my thick hair and I like them because they don’t break. This is a staple in my travel bag and is essential for those beach days when I need to throw my hair in a bun. I usually always have one on my wrist as well.
9. Perfume Roller Ball
This is an awesome travel item for when you need to freshen up. A quick roll on the wrist and neck for a boost of yummy scent is awesome when you are traveling by plane. I currently have Michael Kors Glam which is one of my favorite perfumes. I would suggest picking a Fresh Floral scent that has a vibrant summer feel. You can get these little perfume rollers at Ulta for a reasonable price.
10. Sport Sunblock
Everyone needs a little Sunblock for traveling. It is becoming more important to me as I get older and wiser to protect my skin. Let’s be honest, no one likes a wicked sun burn when your traveling! I use a Banana Boat – Sport SPF 30, so that when I get wet or if I workout and sweat, it still does the job! I apply to my problem areas such as shoulders, chest and back. Remember to reapply throughout the day!
11. UE Boom Wireless Speaker
This is one of my favorite things to have when my husband and I travel. We love music so we carry our UE Boom Speaker everywhere! It is a wireless Speaker with 360-degree sound and water resistant. This thing is so durable and easy to carry in a small bag. You can play your music from your smart phone anywhere! We like to use it at the beach or pool and listen to tunes while basking in the sun. This is a game-changer for travelers. I believe this is around $180 and worth every penny!
12. Dry Shampoo
To keep my hair healthy in the summer, I limit the amount of times I wash my hair during the week. This is important because I spend a lot of time in the sunshine and the rays can dry out my hair. When I travel I bring my dry shampoo with me to keep my hair clean and in perfect blowout status. I use TRESemme’ Fresh Start Dry Shampoo $4.99 and apply it to my roots and throughout my mane. It is the only dry shampoo I use and it’s not only affordable but works wonders. It has a fresh scent and leaves my hair smelling and looking fabulous.
I usually will use my iPhone to take pictures when I’m on the go, but I like to have an extra camera on hand to capture the fun moments of my travels. This Canon Camera takes awesome photos and I like the small and sleek design. It makes it easy to slip into my purse and grab when I need it. I never leave the house without some sort of camera. It is especially helpful for my blogging and Instagram which I like to update as much as possible!
